From Swingin' Beginnings
Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, I’m proud to have participated in local youth ensembles like the Stanford Jazz Miles Ahead Big Band and the SFJAZZ High School All-Stars. After I started my Jazz Studies degree at U-M, I began performing with the Michigan Marching Band and Michigan Fanfare Band, a for-hire subsidiary of the Marching Band comprising the top chairs.
I’m grateful to have performed at events like the Detroit Jazz Festival and the annual Jazz Education Network conference. In October 2025, I performed my most momentous set to date with the Count Basie Orchestra as a featured student soloist.
I currently play lead trombone with the Michigan Youth Jazz Orchestra and mentor high school musicians.
Compositions and Arrangements
I have experience writing for jazz trombone ensembles: instrumentation ranges from 5 trombones + 1 soloist, 6 trombones, and 10 trombones + solo bass trombonist, each with a full rhythm section. I’ve also written compositions and arrangements for jazz combo and full big band.
